QUEENSLAND HYDRO STEM SCHOLARSHIPS
Queensland Hydro STEM scholarships are provided by Queensland Hydro to support the development of STEM skills in the local region and in recognition of the important contribution education makes to the STEM industries.
Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for transforming the state’s energy system.
Queensland Hydro is currently investigating Borumba Dam, near Imbil, as a pumped hydro energy storage facility. A large and highly skilled team will be required to deliver the significant infrastructure project if the Borumba Pumped Hydro Project is approved.
The Queensland Hydro STEM scholarships are awarded annually in the following format.
*
• In order to maximise student access to the scholarships we have made the decision to award more scholarships to Yr 12 students at a lower value as they only have 6 months to expend the allocation. Yr 11 students awarded the scholarships will have 18 months to expend the allocation.
• Scholarships from 2024 onwards are awarded on an annual basis with eligible students able to reapply in the following year.
Scholarship funds will be credited to the school account of the successful applicant and can be used to offset all relevant costs associated with schooling including but not limited to:
• School fees and resource scheme contributions
• Excursions and camps
• Uniforms
• Textbooks
• Stationary
• Digital technology fees
• Tutoring fees
• Transport costs
• Fees associated with study and future pathways
Cash payments or direct transfers to students or families are not permissible.
Any residual funds will be consolidated and utilised to support additional scholarship applicants.
Students are required to submit an application to student services using the application form.
Due Dates
The HODs of INTAD, Science and Maths will review applications and decide on successful applicants. Their decision will be arrived at by consensus and be final.
