As the 2025 school year concludes, I'd like to extend my thanks for your welcome and support as Acting Principal. It has been a pleasure to work with our students, and I am excited to be continuing into the new term. As we wrap up the year, here are some key updates and important information for the start of 2026.
2025 School Opinion Survey Highlights
Thank you to the 146 parents and over 108 students who completed our School Opinion Survey. We were pleased to see that students and staff reported a steady and overall increase in satisfaction since 2023, tracking in the right direction. Our shared focus on high expectations and celebration was well-recognized. As always, there is work to be done, with key areas identified for continued improvement. Areas rated OK when compared to other schools, but identified areas for continued work, included behaviour management and seeking/utilising the opinions and views from students and parents Your feedback is invaluable in helping us be precise in this ongoing work and is woven into our 2026 Improvement Plan and the Parent Engagement strategy we are seeking to develop.
Important Change: New Entry and Exit Procedures for 2026
Following the installation of our new perimeter fence, we have revised our school entry and exit procedures, effective from the start of 2026.
- Gate Locking: The four main perimeter gates will be locked daily from 8:50 a.m. to 3:05 p.m..
- During School Hours: All student and visitor traffic during these hours must enter and exit through the main office on Myall Street.
- Purpose: This transition utilising the new perimeter fence will significantly improve student and visitor management on site, support student safety and help combat vandalism.
Shaping Our Future: Partnership Survey
We are looking for modern, effective ways to partner with our community on important long-term planning, such as facilities and day structure changes. Please complete the Parent and Community Partnership Survey that accompanies this post. The survey asks about your preferred communication methods (e.g., digital forums, evening events) and topics. As an incentive, three participants who provide their name will be drawn to win a payment covering their SRS fees for 2026.
New Well-being Resource: School TV
We are excited to announce we have purchased a subscription to School TV (jamesnashshs.eq.schooltv.me/), a resource featuring a range of videos and articles for parents and students. This tool is designed to help navigate complex well-being challenges and covers topics such as cyber safety, vaping, exam stress, and respectful relationships. We encourage you to access these resources as needed.
