Distressing content on TikTok and Instagram

eSafety is aware of distressing reports about a suicide video circulating on social media. We’ve contacted the social media platforms and are working together to monitor the situation. 

Please follow our advice below.

* If you see this video online report it to the social media platform it’s on, or to eSafety at www.esafety.gov.au/report/illegal-harmful-content. 

* We encourage parents, carers and educators to avoid raising the issue of the video directly with young people who may not have heard or been exposed to it. Instead, we encourage proactive conversations with children about distressing content they may come across online, letting them know they can come to you or another trusted adult if they feel upset or uncomfortable by it. 

* Monitor young people who are more vulnerable and at-risk. If a young person is presenting with signs of distress, schools should follow their own procedures for managing and supporting students at risk. 

* If a life is in danger call Triple Zero (000) right now. 

* Anyone who may be at risk or experiencing emotional distress, including worried family and friends, to contact one of the following services:
